EXCESSIVE OUTLET
By Jay Harris
Hello to you, you gorgeous readers!
We would like to ask….
HOW ARE YOU?
HOW IS LIFE TREATING YOU?
HOW DO YOU FEEL?
The reason that I ask is because it is a phenomenally beautiful day today, my garden is flourishing and my hound, an absolute barrel of golden fur is lying flat on her back, legs splayed and revelling in the glorious sunshine. In her world, it is doggie heaven.
She is well, content and safe.
I ask if you can say the same?
I genuinely wonder just how often any of us stop to think what a difference one or more of these leading questions would make to another person’s day, if we chose to ask them?
Who here feels well, content and safe? If you can answer a resounding ‘ME’, can the response of those who inhibit your life and social circles reply in positive agreement?
IF you answered ‘NOT ME’, wouldn’t it be incredible if somebody takes the time to ask you why?
What I am leading to is how each and every one of us has that power to alter someone’s day, week, month or life.
The Power Of Kindness.
The Power Of Caring.
The Power Of Understanding.
All of us are so very busy these days, the remote is jammed on fast forward. We hustle, rush and bustle without taking the time to stop, standing still amongst this madness to take stock.
All around us there are legions suffering in miserable silence, locked up within themselves, busy brains bursting to the brim with a cornucopia of sad, negative thoughts. A very lonely place where the individual doubts that there is an escape, a way out and if these thoughts are left to fester, you could break, be shattered, a mirror cracked.
Once stuck within that never ending cycle, whether anxiety, panic, self-hatred or stress – you face a monumental struggle to regain that sense of normality or the capability to live the life that you deserve.
Thinking about that, we seem to be missing a major link in our lifetime, a fundamental loss within our society, and that is the resulting erosion of kindness and care.
Many opt to build that invisible wall, wearing a mental suit of armour to protect, but is life really a battlefield? Why isn’t it blatantly obvious that our world is a place of wonder and discovery?
This division tends to sculpt types. One type turns to steel and the other type can become vulnerable, every unkind act or moment of unkindly rudeness cuts deep leading to an overwhelming sense of defeat.
Those in camp two are most definitely NOT ALONE. Everyone has the ability to find an outlet, a place to escape damaging mindsets, whether that be music, dance, exercise, yoga, walking, talking or just a hobby to help one focus on something instead of obstacles created by that voice in their head.
The ‘plasters’ that definitely don’t work are developing an addiction to self-destructive behaviour including the over use of drugs or alcohol.
Now Gia, with a past full of dealing with horrible scars, has one of the most powerful emergency exits to counter those demons, those voices. That is release by creating.
A trained psychiatrist would have a field day in an attempt to deconstruct the designs that she creates.
Adept now, she will unravel those unwanted memories into artwork.
Those thoughts and emotions are sealed forever in imagery, interwoven into her designs. Her pieces are as individual as she is, fabrics a myriad of memories.
MINDFULNESS on MATERIAL.
Just look at these images, there is far more to them than what you think you can see.
What you are actually seeing is a diary, a personal timeline of Gia Giordano’s life.
The Beauty, The Pain, The Joys and The Lows.
Without times of hardship, emotional or physical, these creations may be very different.
Obviously, not all of us have such a unique variation of psychological release so we just rely on kindness.
PLEASE make a concerted effort dear reader, taking the time to be kind, to care. Ask those around you how they are feeling and MEAN IT.
LISTEN, really listen – without judgement.
Use kindness with abandon, scatter them around you like rose petals, after all, you possess an unlimited supply.
Your power to care is vast and unrelenting.
Use that power sparingly to save friends and strangers, be somebody’s SUPERHERO!
Your reward?
Witnessing the RICHEST SMILES from the SADDEST HEARTS.
